Dr. Tanya A. Atagi, MD, FACS, serves as the Medical Director and Founder of Besana Health and Wellness. One of the few board-certified female plastic surgeons in the Denver area, Dr. Atagi has been serving the Denver community since 2003. She is board-certified, fellowship-trained, and brings extensive experience in traditional, integrative, and functional medicine approaches.
Dr. Atagi founded Besana Health and Wellness in March 2019 to address a growing and unmet need for a preventive, root-cause approach to wellness. She specializes in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, metabolic health optimization, and women’s wellness care. Her philosophy centers on treating each patient as a whole person, not just a collection of symptoms. Dr. Atagi’s approach combines evidence-based medicine with personalized treatment plans that consider your unique biochemistry, lifestyle, and wellness goals.
Becky brings specialized expertise in hormone therapy and metabolic health management. Her patient-centered approach focuses on comprehensive wellness assessments and personalized treatment planning that addresses your unique health profile. Becky received her nursing degree from Bethel College in 1994 and has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2001 after attaining her graduate degree from Regis University in Colorado. She specializes in women’s health, specifically the management of high-risk pregnancies, and has been with our practice since 2014, working closely with Susan in the bioidentical hormone replacement and wellness side of the practice. In her spare time, she enjoys coaching volleyball, assisting on medical mission trips, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Ali is a Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife who believes in optimizing wellness through shared decision making with patients. She is certified as a Trauma Informed Care and mental health provider. Compassion and consent are the hallmarks of her practice. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife with Perinatal Mental Health Certification, Ali provides comprehensive women’s wellness care with particular expertise in hormonal health throughout all life stages.
Ali is also an international speaker, teacher, and researcher on Trauma Informed Care. She received her first two bachelor’s degrees from Bond University in Australia in Hospitality Management and in Commerce. Her bachelor’s degree in nursing is from Regis University’s accelerated program, her master’s in nursing is from Frontier Nursing University, and she is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing. She teaches Trauma Informed Care to nursing and medical students and to nurses and medical providers who wish to incorporate Trauma Informed Care into their clinical practice.
Ali spent much of her life living overseas, growing up in Korea and living in Palau, Micronesia, and Australia. These experiences strongly influenced how she sees the world and the interconnectedness and similarities of all people. Ali is passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and is committed to providing compassionate care and creating spaces of true belonging in her life and her professional work.
In her free time, Ali loves reading most of all. She adores being in nature, backpacking, and is newly fascinated with mushrooms. Live music and bluegrass festivals are a must in the summer. She has two super cool teenagers and a dog and a cat.
Susan has been a part of the Denver medical community since attaining her degree from Emory University in 1999. Before arriving at Atagi Plastic Surgery and Skin Aesthetics, Susan gained experience in a variety of different fields, including plastic surgery, general surgery, urology, ophthalmology, and dentistry, giving her a diverse outlook on cutting edge medical techniques and methodology. She is a strong believer in personalized and individualized treatments for each patient. Susan joined our team in 2015 and has a special interest in bioidentical hormone and thyroid optimization, autoimmune support, and integrative wellness approaches. In her spare time, Susan enjoys hiking, golfing, attending concerts, and international travel.
Heather specializes in metabolic health and weight management programs. Her approach emphasizes lifestyle medicine and sustainable wellness strategies that support long-term vitality and health optimization. Heather has been a Physician Assistant for over two decades with experience in Women’s Health as well as Urgent Care and teaching at CU Anschutz Medical Campus. She grew up in Englewood, Colorado and attended University of Colorado Boulder for her undergraduate degree in Biology. She then studied cellular biology for her Master’s degree at University of Colorado as well. Heather attended PA school at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center’s Physician Assistant program (now CU Anschutz Medical Campus).
After graduating, she worked in Women’s Health and OB/GYN since 2004. She also taught the Women’s Health course for 7 years at the PA program at CU Anschutz Medical Campus, and worked in Urgent Care for approximately 9 years simultaneously. She has more recently become interested in holistic health and newer therapies for whole body wellness and longevity. Believing that there is a way to achieve balanced health and to help people feel better and do life better is her goal. Being a mother of two amazing teenagers and two dogs, and wife to her husband Chris, also keeps her busy. She loves playing volleyball, reading, skiing, and golfing with her family.

Hailing from Buffalo, NY, Heidi has called Colorado home since 2003. After over 17 years in payroll and accounting, she decided to change careers and returned to school for her Medical Assisting Certificate in 2017. When she is not at work, Heidi enjoys watching movies, reading, and spending time with her family and English bulldog.
Emily supports our clinical team with comprehensive patient care coordination. Her expertise in medical procedures and patient communication helps create a seamless experience throughout your treatment journey. Emily has worked in the medical field for ten years, first as an assisted living caregiver, then seven years as a primary care medical assistant. She is originally from Southern California but has been living in Colorado since 2009. She is currently a student at MSU Denver, earning her bachelor’s in nutrition science. She plans to apply to PA schools once she completes her degree. Emily has a passion for senior care and nutrition. In her free time, she likes to pan for gold, sew, garden, hike, and spend time with her husband, family, and dog named Lady.
Teresa brings over five years of experience as a medical assistant, with a background in phlebotomy and a strong foundation in patient care and clinical support. She is passionate about helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and well cared for throughout their experience. Outside of work, Teresa loves spending time with her two sons and two dogs. They enjoy staying active and outdoors, whether hiking, fishing, or playing a variety of sports together.
Kaitlin is a Colorado native who knows the value of what this great state has to offer. She attended Metro State University so she could stay local and continue to enjoy her outdoor hobbies, particularly hiking and fishing. At an early age, beginning with her involvement in the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Kaitlin found her passion for helping others in need. After college, she focused her energy on the mental health industry and spent years helping teenage girls during one of the most challenging times in their lives. Her empathy, strong work ethic, and pride is what she brings to every patient interaction.
Katie is a Colorado native who has experience in cardiothoracic surgery administration and home healthcare scheduling. After taking a career break to raise her daughter, she is excited to be back in the healthcare industry and a part of the Atagi and Besana team. She lives in Parker with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and loves camping, traveling, and enjoying the four seasons Colorado has to offer.
Emily shares Dr. Atagi’s appreciation for the arts, having originally moved to Colorado in 2007 to attend the Art Institute of Colorado and pursue her passion for photography. Her creative background brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented perspective to her work and supports the elevated, personalized experience offered across both practices.
With over a decade of experience, Emily has grown alongside the organization and now serves as Office Manager for Atagi Aesthetics and Besana Health and Wellness. Drawing on her strong foundation in patient care, leadership, and operations, she is dedicated to creating a seamless, refined experience for patients while fostering a supportive and efficient environment for the team.
Outside of the office, Emily enjoys photography, playing cello, traveling, and collecting vintage treasures, especially cameras, vinyl records, and antique trunks. She also loves spending time with her husband, dogs, family, and friends.
